wow, that was quick
So about 2 weeks ago I cut out coke, fast food, and started eating healthy(with the help of my body builder roommate). I was walking around at between 173-175(weighed in the morning before my shower). The last 2 days I've been 163 in the morning. That's incredibly easy for me to make 155 from!

So this weekend was awesome(in a awesomely bad kind of way).

I went to Meridian to watch some MMA fights. Pathetic isn't a strong enough descriptor for the quality of fights.

When the entire card is made up of teams like "Team Never Back Down"

what do you really expect I guess. It just annoys me that people do this when there is a legit school 30 minutes away!!!

So after the fights we go to "Club Furnace". This is the hotel bar at the Best Western. Someone forgot to let them know that putting "club" in front of the name doesn't make it anymore than the dive bar that it was. We get hammered there.

Then asked by some random girl to go to "Club Element"(again with the club thing...). This is a BYOB techno bar. We didn't BYOB so this girl dug a bottle of vodka out of her trunk and handed it to me and my friend. Drinking from the bottle the night goes hazy really quickly.

The girl that was supposed to pick us up was asleep at 4am when it was time to come back(obviously) so this girl we met helped us find her house. After about killing out selves climbing the fence to get to the pool house we finally pass out.

I think I'm still hung over.

These amateur fights are incredibly damaging to the sport. I live in TN and it just became legal here....

I went to a recent fight (the first one here in TN that was legal) and it was absolutely atrocious. A bunch of fat asses beating the crap out of each other until one guy fell down knocked out. Not one fight made it past the first round and watching this, I had two reactions:

1. I threw up in my mouth a little bit
2. I realized why it was illegal. This was just cockfighting with humans. These idiots were all untrained backyard brawlers who wanted to do "cage fightin". I was disgusted.

Fortunately, my gym (a well respected gym with 4 Brazillian Jiu-jitsu black belts, 2 UFC veterans, and a world champion boxing coach) put on a fight a few weeks later, and perhaps I am biased, but it was SO much better. Very technical fights. Enjoyable to watch. They were battles, and quite a few of the fights could have gone either way. Unlike those fat ass unskilled rednecks that couldn't have lasted past the first round even if any of the fights went that far.

The first fights that happened were an eyesore. I just hope that no powerful politician saw them because it would have just backed up any preconceived assumption that this MMA fighting is just human cockfighting.

What gym do you fight out of?
